The Challenge
The key objectives for the new packaging included:
- Sustainability: Eliminating plastic components and reducing environmental impact.
- Functionality: Maintaining the portability, durability, and user-friendliness of the handipack.
- Brand Integrity: Preserving Panadol’s trusted brand identity through an appealing design that aligns with its consumer-centric values.
- Efficiency: Ensuring the new pack could be produced efficiently and cost-effectively.
The Solution
Labelmakers, a leader in sustainable packaging solutions, partnered with Probiotec and Haleon to design and develop the revised handipack wallet. Taking the brief on board, Labelmakers engineered an innovative solution: a compact wallet format made entirely of solid fibre board.
The new design met all the objectives by:
- Removing plastic: Transitioning to a mono-material fibre board eliminated plastic usage entirely.
- Sustainability features: The fibre board is recyclable and sourced from responsibly managed forests, aligning with Haleon’s commitment to sustainability.
- Enhanced user experience: The compact 8-pack format maintained the portability and accessibility of the original design, ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Premium look and feel: The updated pack maintained a professional appearance with high-quality printing and branding elements, reinforcing consumer trust.
